Over the past few months, we have been getting a lot of questions about how well the InStyler will work on African American, Mixed Race or Ethnic hair.
In short - the InStyler works SPECTACULARLY well on this type of hair!
During the development of the InStyler, all types of hair were tested to see how they would react to the totally new "rotating hot iron" design of the InStyler. Thin, fine, coarse, straight, flat, curly... all types of hair.
At one point, we brought in a young model named Kima. Kima's hair was very coarse, thick, and curly - and was not chemically-treated. We thought this type of hair would prove to be a challenge for the InStyler. We quickly found that not only did the InStyler go through Kima's hair with ease, but the results were simply astonishing... even to the inventors of the InStyler!
Of course, relaxed hair will work well with the InStyler, but as our test with Kima showed us, so will totally natural hair.
So, we'd like to hear from you! Drop us a line and let us know how well your hair works with the InStyler!
I got my instyler two days ago and I love it so much! I am african american and I have relaxed hair that is so thick and frizzy and I had a conair flat iron that broke after about a year so I have been looking for something that was quality and could save me money from always having to go to the salon for great hair. Now I am almost certain that I don't need to go to the salon anymore because the instyler has given me wonderful results my hair is shiny and moves like never before and I don't need to use the instyler everyday because it's just that good. I am very impressed.

I just recieved my InStyler yesterday. I haven't had a relaxer in 10 months. I feel that all of those chemicals can't be healthy for my hair. I have been occasionally going to the salon to get my hair pressed and was becoming comfortable with the idea of going natural. I saw the ad on tv, and said what the heck, just try it! I am so glad to say that I LOVE this product and am recommending it to all of my friends and family!!!

Wow is all i have to say!!!!
I am half black and half Filipino, and my "black" side was more dominant in my gene mixing, haha..but anyways, I saw the commercial and instantly I wanted to try this straightener. I ordered the straightener, and about three weeks later it came. I washed my hair, let it dry a bit and started on the first little section. Now my hair is stage 5 coarse and kinky. When I say this straightener is a MIRACLE, i absolutley mean it!! It is better than a curling iron or straightener. It is AMAZING!!!! My hair is smoother, shinier and just overall way better than it woulkd be using my Remington Wet to Straight. I Also feel that using the InStyler is better for my hair, although any heat isnt good for my hair, this device just seems like it does WAY less damage!!!! I LOVE IT
:]

Oh, My Goodness!!! I am 51 years old and I have had the worst hair possible all my life. To further a bad issue, my hair is blonde, fine, horrible curls (and lots of it) that will crumple into the glob of hair on the top of my head at the first mention of humidity! I would not even get out of the house before my hair was frizzy, unruly and globbed. After years of torturous appliances that worked for maybe a minute or two and years of relaxers, perms, creams, etc., I have finally found a MIRACLE! My hair is manageable, soft, smooth, and shiny after using the Instyler. And!!!, it lasts all day and night like this!! It manages to condition my hair more than any cream conditioner I have found. And, believe me, in 51 years, you have tried everything known to mankind!
When my InStyler came in the mail, my boyfriend said it was just another of my 7,000 curling irons for the closet. But, he is wrong!!!! I used it the first time and cried it worked so well. I still walk by a mirror and wish it had not taken so long to invent this wondrous tool. Thank you so much for your effort! My boyfriend still laughs and asks if I used one of my 7,000 but I have noticed he runs his hands through my hair more now.
Also, I have separated my shoulder and I CAN use it with only one arm. If it works this wonderfully with using one arm, I can't wait until I can use both arms to see the results! I can't thank you enough for your invention. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I had very coarse and unruly hair. But no more thanks to the Instyler it works so great that I'm giving them as Christmas gifts its worth the investment no more salon trips for me. Thank you Instyler

does it matter which way the barrel rotates on your hair.

M Boton,
The direction of the barrel rotation does not matter.

can the instyler be used on short hair?
Posted by: e taylor | November 06, 2008 at 01:14 AM
I'm mixed between white and black. my hair is really thin, short, lifeless and curly it's also been dyed...will the instyler still work on my hair????
Posted by: Jaybay | November 06, 2008 at 05:23 PM
Jaybay,
From what you describe, the InStyler should work just fine on your hair, as long as your hair is longer than two inches.

I finally got my Instyler today. My hair is relaxed,I tried it and it works wonderfully. My husband commented on how soft and shiny my hair appeared, and he said it twice in one day.

I'm an African-American woman and have always used chemical relaxers to straighten my hair. My mom said that my hair laughs at Regular strength relaxers so I always buy Super. When I used a flat iron, I could put off using the relaxer but my hair felt a little cooked sometimes. When I saw the infomercial, I knew I had to try the Instyler. All I can say is, "I love it!". I used for the first time and my hair was so straight with a little flip at the end. It had a shine to it. My sister used it and loved it. Thanks for the product! One thing though, I do want to use something on my scalp because it gets very dry. Any suggestions?

I have ordered one, just was wandering, I have hair longer than my waist long, do you know if it will work good on hair that long?
Posted by: susan | November 10, 2008 at 11:23 PM
Donna, we're so glad you love the InStyler!! We're always happy to hear stories like yours! As for your scalp getting very dry, it is possible that the relaxers are stripping away too much of the natural oils on your hair and scalp. You might try conditioners or "deep heat conditioning" moisturizers to help add some moisture back in. Check with a professional hairstylist for a recommendation for your type of hair.
Susan, we're happy to tell you that the InStyler works very well on very long hair! Just take your time and develop a technique that works well for you. Start with the low heat first, and then work your way up to the higher heat settings as needed.

I recieved my Instyler saturday and I tried it! How surprised I was, it's so amazing! I have nothing to regret having bought! It's really incredible! I have curly hair, indomitable and swell every time but once I used Instyle, everything is off! This is the end of the nightmare! This is not even bother to go to the hairdresser! Instyle done everything and frankly, I recommend this product for all women, it's really incredible! I thank all those who have the idea to invent it!

My sister has the InStyler and I tried it on my daughter's hair; Guess what? That Instyler worked wonders on thick coarse hair and I ordered it this evening!!!
Just one question: "Will you please create a smaller barrell because my sister' hair is quite short and it barely curls the hair."
Again, I would like to commend you for creating such a diverse curling tool for all hair types and the Women of the world should order your product without reservations. The Instyler is the wave of the future for Women who cannot afford expensive Salon prices to look or feel good about themselves.
You are the answer to what hair is and "hair is hair" as, I was taught in Beauty School years ago, Instyler!
Thanks Again

I ordered this InStyler and I love it. I wish it was around in the early 70's my hair is curly and frizzy.Back then I would put wax paper and iron my hair so it wouldn't stick out so much. Now in my early 50's I am thankful for this product. My hair feels so soft and I like the look. I would blow dry my hair then use the curling iron to try and straighten my hair it didn't work because it would still be frizzy. I am so glad you came out with this styler my husband likes it also. Happy Holidays

I just got my instyler a few days ago and just used it last night. I'm African american with thick frizzy hair. I usually spend about 3-4 hours on my hair everytime I wash it trying to get it straight. I have fried my hair with my professional flat iron and stove. With the instyler, it only took about 25 mins to get my hair straight. My hair has more life, bounce and curl. It is absolutely awesome and I would recommend it for anyone!

one of my main concerns is how this products works on the ROOTS. this product probably work wonders on the rest of the hair, but if i can't straighten my roots with it , then i would have to go over my hair all over again with another type of flat iron which would be ridiculous. so could yous tell me how that works?

Wow! This is one product that I have ordered over the TV that I am so glad I did!!! I am an African-American and my hair is kinky and thick but not course(if that makes any sense). I have always had to have a relaxer in order to manage my mane... In Styler has been a God sent... Thank you for such a dynamic product...

I am sooo impressed with the InStyler! I received it Friday and immediately washed my hair and used it without applying product of any kind to my hair.
I'm an african american woman and am always concerned of how well new stylers will work on my hair. To other african american women considering the InStyler; I assure you, it is NOT a waste of your money! It works, from root to tip! And again, WITHOUT any kind of product whether it's moisterizer, grease, etc!
My hair is softer, straighter, bouncier, has plenty of volume and literally FEELS healthier! And when it looks AND feels healthier, it is! My hair isn't fried, it's healthier and silky!
I can't praise the InStyler enough. Just try it for yourself, ladies!

When I got my InStyler in the mail, I was so happy for what it did to my hair it gave it body and shine. I have dull and thick hair; it looks so good when I went to work everyone asked who did my hair my reply was " I ordered this product call the (InStyler)". I Know when I seen the Instyler on T.V. it was a god send. I hurt one of my hands and I can still use it. I loved it so much that I gave my sister the other InStyler for christmas. My sister call me and said WOW!WOW! she going to tell her friends about this wonderful Product. finally something that can help all types of hair. This would make a good gift.
Happy Hoildays

OMG!!! I received my two Instylers today and as soon as I got them I opened one and went to work on my daughter's hair. She is 8 years old and she has natural hair down to her butt. I have been using a flat iron and I am not happy with the end results. The ends are still frizzy and the hair is always stiff. She wants to wear her hair down and I have tried everything. I used this product. Number one it took half the time it normally takes with the flat iron and the hair was soft and silky and no frizzy ends. It was a beautiful thing. I am very impressed with this product and overjoyed that my daughter can wear her hair down. I will never put any relaxers in her hair and I had been looking for a product that would straighten her hair and give it body and shine. My hair is natural as well and I have been keeping it braided to keep from putting any chemicals in it and now I am excited to use the Instyler the next time I take the braids out.
Thank you for this product and I will definitely recommended it to my friends.

I got my Instyler's today, and I will tell you, I was definitely skeptical about it. My mom kept hinting to me that she wanted one for Christmas, so I got her the one with the upgrade. Since there were two, I decided to give it a shot. I have really thick, coarse hair, even when my hair is relaxed. I was very impressed with how smooth my hair is. It feels soft and it's actually bouncy, not flat and dead. I didn't even have to have it on the highest setting, like I do with flat irons and curlers. So don't do like I did and assume, cause that thing gets really hot! And for the roots, I recommend pulling the hair outward, press your hair with the instyler as close to your scalp without burning it, hold it for like 5 seconds, then press downward. You can also bump it with the cylinder end as well. It worked perfectly for me, I could never get my roots straight by myself. I can not wait to suprise my mom, she is absolutely going to love it!
